Bizalom

Bizalom, for any who care, is the Hungarian translation for 'trust'. The picture above says it all, right? 😁.

Budapest seems to be experiencing quite a renewal evidenced by many people in the streets, tourists and locals alike. We are staying on the "Pest" side (pronounced "pesch") of the river where there are many shops and restaurants. The landscape is very flat, perfect for walking. Basking in the sun with the bright blue sky overhead was a beautiful introduction to Hungary and Eastern Europe.

Despite many architectural similarities and the shared river (the Salzach that feeds into the Danube) there are differences between Salzburg and Budapest (kind of like cousins).  Parts of Budapest feel rundown and weary and yet in the tourist areas, there's a vibrancy that we didn't experience as much in Salzburg. Budapest is also a much larger city with a population of 1.78 million vs Salzburg at approximately 153,000.

Don't get me wrong, we of course will always have a sentimental allegiance to Austria for obvious reasons ❤️

Tomorrow we will head over the Danube River to experience the panoramic views of the "Buda" side. Stay tuned 😉
