Un Breve Soggiorno a Ravenna

Okay, I know I'm pushing it with Italian titles...

But I couldn't resist - what I meant to say was "a short stay in Ravenna". We arrived by train today (only a one hour journey) with the intention of seeing the mosaics (an interest of moi). Where better to wet the passion than in Ravenna, the city of mosaics, designated by UNESCO as a World Heirtage Site (yes I copied that from the brochure) where some of the most beautiful mosaics are displayed in the churches and museums (Basilica di San Vitale and Mausoleo di Galla Placidia to name drop a few 😆).

Rogue tourist

The pictures probably don't do them justice but my goodness they are beautiful - and to imagine all the work involved, it is pretty mind blowing.

To go from touristy bright Rimini to quieter Ravenna was a bit of a switch, along with the weather shifting from 36 Celsius to slightly overcast and looming thunderstorms. I have to say though, that after the last few days, a few raindrops felt kinda nice.

Oh and I have to include a few pics of another passion of mine - please bear with me! Nope no pasta or pizza shots today (although they may have been consumed - a lady never tells!) but these shots from the market in Rimini deserve an audience - please praise them as I wanted to share the beauty of them! Nothing like a beautiful voluptuous tomato or zucchini flower to finish the day with!

Buona giornata amici miei💕
