Highlights of Rovinj
Rovinj beckoned to us from across the water
We were excited about visiting Croatia for the first time; and despite a few obstacles (like a sleepless night amidst thunder, lightening, heavy rains and about 10 mosquitos determined to keep me company) - we headed off early this morning. We were bravely trusting in the Italian weather forecasters, who were promising sun by lunch time. And so off we went in the rain, accompanied by a large umbrella down to the Trieste harbour where our ship awaited.
Happy to say that by the time we arrived in Rovinj (1 hour and 40 minutes on the infamous Rapido Italian ferries), the rain had stopped and the clouds starting to dissipate. By the time we left at 7:00 pm, it was a brilliant sunny day. Of course, I had to lug around a large umbrella which looked rather foolish while others were swimming in the ocean - but hey, not complaining (well perhaps a small whine, me bad I know).
A wonderful introduction to Croatia. The culture again that much different from Italy, but sharing some similarities in food and architecture. We feel very blessed to have seen it.
Hope you enjoy the pics from where you sit - consider it our pleasure to share with you!!
It was touch and go, but they let this rather sketchy Aussie-Aussy into Croatia 😆.
