Rain drops on roses and...
Whiskers on kittens - that has been the theme of our vacation in Austria so far! Despite guarantees of sun from the weather forecasters, each day the sun seemed to be inched out by heavy clouds and rain. Soon the sun dresses and sandals needed to be replaced by sweaters, jackets, umbrellas and boots! We have adjusted - gone with the flow - which in this case was the persistent, steady rainfall. For whatever reasons, Mother Nature has showered down on these parts for the past week or so. Thankfully, there have been no floods this time around. (Salzburg was already stricken with floods in June.)
And, when it has gotten too wet - we have been able to seek refuge in numerous gastehauser, backerei, and other such establishments! :)
So, here we are, for a few more days, in this beautiful country - safe, warm, relatively dry and definitely contented. As we rode the train today from Salzburg to Vienna, there were miles and miles of emerald green rolling hills, church steeples and pastel coloured homes, all beautifully manicured. What a feast for the eyes.
Speaking of feasts - you will see from my pictures that we have not gone hungry! Thank goodness for all the walking (and trudging thru puddles) we have done. According to our pedometers - some days we have covered between 10 and 12 miles - all while seeing a "few of our favourite things"!
Servos for now - more pictures from Vienna to come - Kathleen & Pete :)
