Things are not always as they seem...

>
> Have you ever noticed that sometimes things are not as they seem? We have been finding this with our trip already. For example, when we arrived at the Vancouver airport, we were one of the first people lined up to check in. But, despite our eagerness (sometimes called other things) we stood in line for 60 minutes before the ticket booths actually opened... Then later as we waited to board, the flight was approaching 45 minutes behind schedule already. Now as you can appreciate when you have anxious, prompt-to-a-fault travelers, this can be trying.
>
> Anyways, we were sitting, PATIENTLY waiting. Well, ok, there was a small amount of pacing starting to happen. So then we hear "Bono and Holzermayr, please approach the check-in counter" and I'm thinking, "oh great, now what...?" My positive outlook was in full force. And imagine the grin that came over both our faces when they told us they had upgraded our seats, free of charge to the next class up!!
>
> Of course the story behind this is that we had inquired twice about upgrading a few weeks prior. But the price quoted to us was nearly 3x what we had paid for the same service a few years ago. And so we had let it go (well mostly...)
>
> It is amazing how the trip turned around from that point on!!! And, despite leaving nearly an hour late, the flight was smooth, extra comfortable because of upgraded seats and deluxe meals and on time!
>
> And, Frankfurt, in an effort to make us feel at home, was accommodating in her (or is it his?) weather. We were greeted with heavy overcast skies and pelting down rain. Just like home - Nature is so very accommodating!! More to come, next stop - Desenzano del Garda!
