Leaving Lezzeno (les-Zee-No)

It is our last night in Lezzeno. The sun is still up and from our room, I can hear the waves, as well as an animated Italian conversation amongst some of the guests out on the patio down below. We feel like we are at an Italian retreat!

"Nest on the Lake", our B&B sits on property that has been in the family since the 1700's. And, it is aptly named since it is perched right on the water. Costantino (Tino) and his wife, Rafaella, along with their two young daughters, live here and host the B&B. Tino is a fabulous host - generous to a fault with a warm and humorous personality. He thinks nothing of sharing with guests wine and goodies in the evening - all on the "house".

It is a added bonus that Tino speaks fluent English so we can actually easily converse with him! I will admit that our Italian still has a ways to go, despite Pete playing his Italian translator out loud on his iPhone so that we can say and add more words to our repertoire!

For our last local excursion today, we took a bus ride to Como, which is about 50 minutes away. Now these are no ordinary bus rides - the main road is a busy, narrow, winding road that runs high above the lake. Everyone zooms along this road like a grand pix, despite the fact that most corners are just barely wide enough for two vehicles to share the road simultaneously. And no, there is no alcohol served on the bus to sedate the anxious Canadian passengers (namely me)! And, some of the buses have seat belts...and some don't.

Anyways, we arrived safe and, well, mostly sound although that is debatable at the best of times! It is always great to be on solid ground for as long as it lasts!

Sounds like the way Papa drives...
Good comparison!! Of course the only difference is that there is no music playing in the bus... If you know what I mean. You would NOT enjoy the curves!!!! :)
