La Dolce Vita
Desenzano is just as we had hoped it would be - a medium size town, quiet, quaint, clean and well kept with some interesting spots to explore! It is one of several towns clustered around the outskirts of Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. The climate is described as Mediterranean like with lots of sun which encourages things like lemons, oleander, jasmine and bougainvillea to grow. In fact the perfumy scent of jasmine is tangible pretty much wherever you walk. And you hear lots of different accents, such as German, United Kingdom English, Russian, and Dutch since it is a popular holiday spot for Europeans.
The bed and breakfast we are staying at is nestled in a neighborhood about 10 minutes walking distance from the main promenade and shopping area by the lake shore. We are awakened early each morning by so many different birds singing, chatting and calling to one another. It seems they are very happy here in Desenzano as the chorus continues pretty much right into the evening.
And, as you can see from our pictures, we are having a wonderful time! Ciao for now!
